82% of Americans agree: "business has too much power over too many aspects of our lives."* But most of them don't know that corporate personhood is the root of corporate power.
Corporate personhood is the doctrine that corporations are considered to be individual persons in the eyes of the law. Corporate personhood is the most critical social and political issue of our time. It lies at the heart of campaign finance reform, labor abuse, deterioration of communities, destruction of the environment, and more.
Persons, Inc. is a national citizens action coalition. We're campaigning for an amendment to the U.S. Constitution stating clearly that the Bill of Rights is only for individual human beings. We want the Bill of Rights back from the ultra-wealthy who use the corporate form to grant themselves more rights than the rest of us. We won't rest until this happens and the people's sovereignty is restored.

Corporations:
use First Amendment protections to make enormous political contributions
use the Fourth Amendment to prevent surprise inspections intended to prevent labor abuses, pollution, and food contamination
leverage anti-discrimination and free speech laws to force Wal-Marts and other "big box" stores into communities that don't want them.
And much more.
