Madonna, Cher, and Janet Jackson started wearing lingerie in their onstage costumes decades ago. They were trendsetting, setting their mark as individualistic, creative and strong.
As fashion evolves, and celebrities, singers, actors make their mark in the fashion world, some more extreme than other such as Lady GaGa, celebrities are using lingerie more and more.
From on stage shows, with Brittany, Beyonce, Pink and Fergie rocking sexy lingerie as showcases among others, to actresses on the redcarpet. Celebrities continue to push the limits of lingerie as outwear, or showing lingerie more predominantly.
An open shirt to reveal a bra, a corset as the primary top, short shorts with hosiery type straps, lingerie is being used alot more as a fashion accessory.
Designers are making lingerie more accessible for a primary clothing piece too, corsets, bras, and underwear have been altered to have as an everyday look.
Materials used in these styles made them have an outwear feel to them. Cotton mixed with silk, or satin. Fishnet with underwear are too basic examples of everyday fashion worn by celebrities, and fashion trendsetters.
As celebrities wear these styles, shown in fashion magazines, tabloid magazines, in movies, in videos clips, on the red carpet, and altered versions as everyday wear, we take on this trend.
A very basic example of this is leggings or jean leggings. These are a common must wear item for girls of nearly all ages. Worn as a primary pant or as part of a skirt or dress.
They have taken form as a primary pant or hosiery piece. Another example, corsets. The evolution of this piece of lingerie is incredible, from a supportive garment for young women back when less was known about health and affects of how it changed body formation,
to now soft cotton and silk or satin, able worn in comfort easily.
This type of clothing will continue to evolve, as celebrities need to promote their movies, songs, products, lingerie will be seen more and more in the streets.
Can you pick the next trend? Babydolls are a popular piece of lingerie, maybe a version of this style of lingerie. Push up bras, slimming Lycra, a short shorts have been for a years now, and continually changing, these are surely going to be a prominent piece of outwear, which will inevitably keep up with the times.
Will leather lingerie be altered into a fashionable trend, or will lace be a primary material. The lingerie style of chemises can already be seen in many womens tops, and dresses. Will this type of lingerie be seen more in fashion.
How lingerie and clothing are being used today, we will see fashionable lingerie evolve for some time yet.
