Everybodys seen a runway show on tv or the news, even a youtube clip. Usaully for season trends or designers to show what they can do.
Some brands even become famous for their annual runway show and models, such as the runway show for Victoria Secrets. The show is extravigant to show the brands image and style.
Runway lingerie often is extravegnt and out there. The end result in the stores however is more commerical or a dulled down version. One reason is that they fashion is not easily mass produced, another is, the fashions on the runway arent meant for everyone. They are a ‘show’.
The designer gets to show what they can do, what there style is. They show the main points of what the season trends will be. The main colours, fabrics, and look.
The runway is for the fashion industry to show thier design skills. For example, lingerie shows might show models with addtional accessories, such as shoes or jackets as well as tailormade pieces of lingerie to add an extra edge to the style.
For example, look at Victoria Secret, they have the infamous wings. These arent sold in the stores, or online, but they are part of the show. They are a showcase peice. They are a brilliatn lingerie accessory and brand image booster.
If the runway on lingerie was sold in stores, it propbably wouldnt sell well, as the general public dont want this extravent style, and some of the lingerie wouldnt be comfortable, or for everyday wear nor intitmate occasions.
Runways shows provide a look into what to expect for next season. As stores, designers and retailers look at the fashion forward design and make and order lingerie according to these new fashion styles.
Lingerie runway shows bring out the style of how they want the lingerie percepived. They are a chance to launch a new range, and set the season trend. The sexy lingerie in the stores that season are inspired by the runway.
They are entertaining, trend setting, and sometimes iconic.

Even models have become famous for wearing lingerie on the runway, such as Heidi Klum, Mirana Kerr and Gisele Bundchen.
