RESOLUTION: Berkeley City Council, June 15, 2004 |
Berkeley's Peace Justice Commission recently approved a Resolution on Corporate Constitutional Rights to be sent to the City Council for a vote. It is on the agenda for Tues. evening June 15, 2nd floor of Old City Hall, 2134 MLK Wy just south of Center St, downtown.

Public comment period is from 7pm to 7:30. Fill out speaker cards before 7. 10 speakers, chosen by lottery, are allotted a strict 3 minutes each. Often, someone whose name is drawn will cede part or all of their time to someone they consider more qualified to speak, but they need to name the replacement speaker, so we'll
organize that first, outside from 6 or 6:30.
For those who are free and near on Tues. evenings, it is also good to speak at prior meetings. It's helpful even just to say your name, kind of work, your address if you live or work in Berkeley & for how long, and that you think corporations have too much power and to please adopt the resolution on June 15. For those who want to get a feel for it, all meetings are simul-televised on the local channel 33 (or 25) and often go on until 11:30 pm.
